Asunto Oy Töölön Castellum, Helsinki is situated centrally in the Töölö district, at the interface of a block area combining two different scales. This block is part of a nationally-significant built urban environment. The buildings’ timeless, subdued architecture adheres to the scale of the surrounding building stock, and both the calm rhythm of the windows and the balconies facing onto the yard are intended to fit with the spirit of Töölö. The central courtyard area in the block offers a green, park-like feel.
The apartments’ clear layout solutions can be adapted to a range of life situations and the rooms are generously dimensioned. The windows, extending almost to the roof, allow light to flood deep into the apartment. The internal spaces and details are also well considered. The materials used in the apartments are of high quality, with the interiors carefully designed. The buildings’ external walls are solid and built on site, while the intermediate walls are concrete poured in place, ensuring that the apartments’ ceiling surfaces are even, with no visible seams. The radiators have also been chosen in accordance with Töölö’s functionalist spirit. The balconies face onto a calm courtyard and are glazed.
